COMET is in year 2007 born international Quartet of Swedish and Finnish jazz artists. The group offers energetic improvised music which roots are in scandinavian free-jazz, and are spiced up with the rich thematics driven from Scandinavian folklore and sagas of Finnish "KALEVALA". The group has so far performed concerts in Sweden, Estonia and Finland.
The members of the COMET have all performed with their own projects & bands in Scandinavian & European festivals:
- Verneri Pohjola with his groups "Ilmiliekki" Quartet, "Aurora", Iro Haarla Sextet, plus with many other Scandinavian artists as sideman.
- Esa Pietilä with his Trio, "4 STREAMS" Quartet, Iro Haarla´s groups, Mathias Eick, Michael Stevens, Claudio Fasoli, Heiri Kaenzig, Anders Begcrantz, Raoul Björkenheim, Brian Melvin to name a few.
- Filip Agustson has performed eg. with Fredrik Ljungkvist, Karl Martin Almqvist, Örjan Hulten, Fredrik Nordström, Mathias Ståhl, and many other Scandinavian artists.
- Tuomas Ojala has perfromed with many Swedish, Finnish, Islandic and German artists.
